Histopathological study of Liver(needle biopsy) of a patient who received the macromolecular substance(dextran & P.V.P.) intracenously for long period.

Abstract
|
|
|
1) Liver biospy material (2 time) of 35 year old woman who received extensive amount of dextran and P.V.P. intravenously for long period (10 years) is reviewed on the point of histo-pathological and clinical findings.
2) Liver function is impai-red considerably, and there is moderate degree of anemia, otherwise no hematological disturbances are noted.
3) The foreign material in the liver is lightly basophilic and foamy in appearance by Ilematoxylin-Eosin staining. No specific stainings are capable to stain this material. They appear mostly in periportal spaces accompanying a moderate proliferation of connective tissue.
4) The effect and possible fate of liver by the injected dextran and P.V.P. as plasma expander was briefly discussed.
